Dancing is fun! We strive to create a fun, friendly, respectful environment above all.
Dancing is great exercise! Exercise keeps you healthy and happy. Dancing is essential for good health :-)
A fun class does not equal a chaotic class! Learning to dance takes discipline and patience. When we work hard we are rewarded by the achievements we make.
Deirdre Hamilton TCRG (An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha)
Deirdre began Irish dancing when she was 4 years old starting in Toronto at the Gregoire School and finishing her competitive training in Dublin, Ireland at the Cadwell-Cawte school almost two decades later. Throughout her competitive career Deirdre achieved Top 5 placements in the All- Scotland, All-Ireland, Great Britain, European, North American and World Championships.
After retiring from competition she began dancing professionally and travelled throughout North America, Europe and Asia extensively. Her career on stage culminated with achieving her dream of being the principal dancer in ‘Riverdance’. She toured with ‘Riverdance’ from 2007-2010 when she returned to Canada to teach. After teaching numerous local classes around Toronto, as well as international workshops in Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Ukraine, the Hamilton School of Irish Dance officially opened its doors in Jaunuary 2015.
Also a certified STOTT Pilates instructor, she has been teaching Pilates since 2011. She loves to incorporate her experience and knowledge of Pilates to help herself and others improve as dancers.
Deirdre credits her dance career with teaching her much more than just how to dance...and she hopes her students will some day feel the same way.
